Just kick back and relax in the tropical village atmosphere of Port Douglas and its famous Four mile beach. Dougies is just 300 metres from the beach and a short stroll to the village centre.

If you are looking for work during your travels come up to Port Douglas NOW. All Restaurants, Hotels, Dive/Snorkel Boats, and Spa’s are looking for staff with the busy season starting. We have our Jobs Board at reception with heaps of jobs for you to grab and where better to stay for a few months 🙂

Dougies Backpackers Resort is run by a bunch of us who had lots of fun backpacking around the world, so we decided to start a hostel ourselves. We have been building Dougies Backpackers for over 12 years and have the relaxed atmosphere, without all of the formal procedures that some hostels have. Our philosophy at Dougies is “Kick Back and Relax”.

We have all of the hostel facilities that a fun lovin’ backpacker could ever need, including a bar, refreshing swimming pool, free bbq, a huge self-cook kitchen, facilities, shop, laundry, internet, satellite TV (really big one), hire bikes, fishing rods, tour desk and of course accommodation (doubles, twins, share rooms, camping, van sites and our own stylish canvas tents).

We are located on the left hand side on the way into town so nice and easy to find.

Once you see our tropical gardens and cruisy front lawn you might just
want to lay back and relax under a palm tree, kick back in a hammock, by the pool or you may even like to unwind on the grass and soak up some of the Far North’s warm tropical sunlight.

Our aim is to provide a memorable highlight of your visit to Australia, whether you stay for just a few days or get a job in town and stay for months.
